The School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI and area high school students took the summer season as an opportunity to hold and attend a series of technologically enriching workshops.
The summer workshops were taught by faculty in the School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI, and covered a bevy of topics in the media arts field, focusing on everything ranging from game design to 3D animation, video production, Photoshop, and app development for smartphones.
Students were able to work and become familiar with the latest technology, production equipment, and software during class sessions.
The finale to the summer series was a new class, taught by lecturer Travis Faas, which gave students the opportunity to develop apps for iPhone and Android phones. In the class, students learned what goes into creating an app, how to create their own app, and how to submit their finished product to one of the many current app stores.
Each of the workshops was a week long, Monday through Friday, with class sessions going from 8: 30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Classes were open to any student entering, currently enrolled in, or graduating from grades 9-12. No prior experience was necessary to attend any of the workshops.
The workshop series began mid-June and ran through the end of July. All of the workshops were heavily attended. Enrollment for the last workshop, app development, was filled to capacity.
