Immerse yourself in a creative, future-focused community as you learn to master and help shape emerging technology. Embrace the spirit of discovery when you earn a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Media Arts and Science through the IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI.
Our students work with the same tools and media that professionals utilize, including video and sound, web design, 3-D printing, gaming, and digital animation hardware and software.
Whether you choose to focus on virtual reality, multimedia narratives, web design, or another field, you’ll have opportunities to work on research and collaborative projects in your specialty as you earn an undergraduate degree.
Forge new solutions on the frontiers of technology in your work as a graduate student. Build on your previous research, or use what you’ve learned to solve developing problems. While earning your Master of Science degree, you’ll generate research projects based in your specialty to advance trends in emerging media and design, creating a valuable portfolio.
You’ll apply for the accelerated program in the sixth semester of your B.S. or when you have successfully completed your first five semesters—75 credit hours—with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher. When applying to graduate school, you’ll need to submit a personal statement of at least 500 words and a portfolio.
The School of Informatics and Computing will waive all application fees.
Bachelor and master degrees are conferred independently.
The plan of study follows the B.S. in Media Arts and Science plan of study for years 1-3. You’ll begin taking graduate level courses during year 4 as follows:
