3D Graphics and Animation specialization
How do you like your reality?
Connect your passion to next-generation technologies and be on the forefront of innovation and evolution in countless industries that will change the world.
3D technology is making its way into every area of our lives. Virtual reality can take gaming to heart-pounding places, transport you to a shipwreck two miles beneath the ocean, or allow buyers to view a home for sale 8,000 miles away. Augmented reality apps now guide visitors around town, or send you on an anatomical tour of your brain.
You can go places no one has seen—and take users with you—when you earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Media Arts and Science from the IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI.
“We train you for the West Coast, but you can stay local and affect Indiana’s future by changing the way companies do business.”
Zeb Wood, Media Arts and Science lecturer
Innovation and expansion
Positioning you on the cusp of emerging media, the 3D Graphics and Animation specialization provides skills to work across many visualization platforms. You’ll use the most current equipment and technology to develop games, advertising, and scientific illustrations.
The 3D specialization can truly utilize students’ skills—and not only toward the entertainment markets of the film and game industries. You’ll learn how to translate those skills for emerging mediums such as virtual reality, augmented reality and 3D printing.
Whether you’re exploring the frontiers of digital animation or using 3D printing to craft medical devices, your hands-on classroom projects can yield portfolio-ready work to show prospective employers.
There’s no limit to where your skills can take you. Entertainment, historic preservation, flight simulation, paleontology, surgical tutorials—the possibilities are virtually unlimited.
