One Health in the Digital World: Imagine the Possibilities

One Health involves the shared learning obtained from scientific progress in human and companion animal health. IoT involves the connectivity of devices, data and the internet. As these two concepts merge together, the future will connect companion animals and humans in ways that have not been imagined before.
About Edward McGruder
Dr. McGruder has served the animal health industry for the past 24 years. He currently
serves as Chief Medical Officer for Alternative Innovation at Elanco Animal Health. His Elanco career started in 1994, and since that time, he has held several senior leadership roles in Discovery and Development R&D. These roles have led to a number of global product approvals in the US and abroad. In 2002, Dr. McGruder spent 3 years leading an animal health life sciences company that was a spin‐out of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. His Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree was conferred in 1992. His Ph.D. in Immunology‐Microbiology was conferred in 1994. Both degrees were obtained at Texas A&M University. In the past five years, he has served on several boards. These have included the Abundant Grace International Fellowship church board, Centric Indy, Texas A&M University College of Engineering Board (Vice‐Chairman), the Brendonwood Association (Vice‐President) the Shanghai American Football League Board (which was associated with NFL China), and the Tocqueville Council for the United Way of Central Indiana.
