Informatics students celebrate women in computing
February 5, 2010
Students from the School of Informatics and Computing will join a contingent of 22 female students from IUPUI attending the Indiana Celebration of Women in Computing (InWIC) conference this weekend, February 5th through 6th. The conference brings together 150 female students, educators and professionals from around the state to discuss technical and social issues impacting women in the computing industry. A career fair and other networking opportunities will also be available.
The Indiana Celebration of Women in Computing provides a low-cost opportunity to connect regional women in computing careers and studies. “One of the stated goals that we’ve always had is lacing together small pockets of scattered Indiana women for a strong alliance, support and encouragement,” said Gloria Childress Townsend, General Chair of InWIC. Registration for the conference, held this year at McCormick’s Creek State Park in Spencer, Indiana, is now closed. More information about the conference and future events can be found at http://www.cs.indiana.edu/inwic/.
