Will Seidelman is a Senior Lead UX Researcher within Amazon Operation’s Human Centered Design (HCD) Organization, focusing on Amazon Fulfillment Technology (AFT). His talk will include an overview of HCD, how Amazon’s “working backward” process influences their work, and his views on how advances in IoT are fundamentally altering the product design process—from conceptualization through deployment and scaling.
AFT is responsible for the technology that powers Amazon’s rapidly expanding global fulfillment needs, and HCD is chartered with thinking big and relentlessly iterating on new ideas to solve some of the most challenging issues within AFT.
HCD is a multidisciplinary organization with talent in the areas of UX Design, UX Research, Brand Design, Design Technology, UX Writing, Localization, and Design Operations. Teams work across disciplines with the singular goal of creating the best possible experience for the Amazon customer.
The IU School of Informatics and Computing at IUPUI is pleased to host the Industry Lecture Series, which explores the impact of human-centered design on the rapid evolution of the Internet of Things. Just as human-centered design and design thinking methodologies are transforming traditional businesses and business models, these same processes are accelerating the deployment of innovative new IoT ecosystems across a broad spectrum of industry verticals. This lecture series will feature design leaders from major national corporations describing how human-centered design practices are integral to the development of forward-thinking IoT business strategies. All lectures are open to the IUPUI campus and the community.
